This truck was direct trade in by its original and only owner a few months back. She came into us as a 1 Owner and near perfect 1998 Silverado Z71 with just 55k original documents miles. As a company we have been selling, restoring and building this generation GM pickup since 2010 and we absolutely love them. With this truck being worthy of being an absolute amazing truck we decided to take what was already a great truck and turn it into a perfect truck.
The exterior was in amazing condition but the hood, roof and top fenders started to have very very slight fading on the paint. The clear coat was still in tact but you could see the fade. We could have easily left it as is and it would have been fine, but these trucks deserve fully glory!!!! At first we were going to just paint the hood, roof and blend the fenders but then decided to process with a full paint job and we were going to do just exterior but in true DAS fashion we can’t cut corners. We sent ahead and did a FULL disassemble paint job which you will see in the photos includes taking every panel off the entire truck, removing all of the glass, removing all of the trim, bumpers lights, etc. this is a very time-consuming process but nets a better than new paint job. We have the photos below to show the process which they just represent a small portion. After the full two-tone paint job is completed within wet, sand and compound and polish for a perfectly smooth better than OEM finish. The assembly process starts with installing in aligning all the panels bed and installing a new windshield and seal. We will finish the exterior with all new lights markers, OEM spec Z 71 badges as well as side trim. Please note the pictures below show where we are with the truck but is a speedy process to get it to its final stage once all the Paint And Body work has been done.
The interior of the Silverado was in great condition when it was traded in, but it was all original. We decided to refinish the headliner as well as the sunvisors for a brand new look. When we remove the inner door panels and glass to do the paint job we remove the OEM speakers and decided to upgrade those to the same size, but a better speaker for a better quality sound. The original carpets and seats show amazingly well and we will steam clean those for a like new look the previous owner was an elderly gentleman that never smoked and the truck has zero burns or any signs of abuse all of the OEM knobs that show any wear such as window control buttons will be replaced with brand new buttons. Our goal is to make this truck feel as new as possible in all aspects.
Our work does not stop there, we will proceed to service the entire truck front to back which will include the engine, seals, fluids, gaskets the brake system as well as offer some additional options such as a front leveling kit with a BFG all-terrain 285 7516 tire.
WE WILL BE UPDATING THE SITE WEEKLY WITH PROGRESS PICS, HOWEVER THIS TRUCK IS FOR SALE NOW AND WILL NOT LAST…..202-491-9929
Week 1-5
We pull the truck into the body shop and started to repair any and all small imperfections. We disassembled the entire truck as shown, including the doors hood fenders bed so that we could get to every part of the truck. As shown you can see we took the truck down to metal which is a very important step that 95% of shops don’t do. Once all the body work was done, we sprayed an etch primer over all the exposed metal.
Week 6-7
The entire body has now been completed with its body work and now we have begun our priming of all panels both front and back sides. Once the first coat of primer in done, we do a complete sanding and blocking for a flat finish, this process gets repeated for a second time.
Week 7-10
This is a very tedious process of our paint process. The black spray you see is called a “guide coat” This is the final sanding that shows us how flat the surface is. Once we do the initial sanding with guide coat, we will often apply a second or third coat
